Fishmeals may be produced in facilities that also render material derived from other animals, including ruminants. For this reason, imported fishmeal is subject to risk management measures to ensure that Australia remains BSE free.
AgriGen Biotech has developed two DNA (PCR) tests which provide low level detection of (i) ruminant-specific and (ii) animal-specific DNA. The detection limit of our ruminant test (0.125% rendered Ovine in plant-based stockfeed) is substantially lower than any other tests on the market.
Importers can now benefit through access to the most sensitive and specific tests available.
